Yuppie Psycho

Review

Today is not your average day in the life of Brian Pastemack. Today he is headed to Sintracorp, one of the largest corporations there is, after he receives an invitation to be one of the newest members of the Sintracorp family. He does find this a little unusual as he has never applied for employment there. Enticed none the less at an opportunity to work at the prestigious corporation, he arrives promptly as instructed. He interacts with some of the others in the lobby to figure out where to report to, and to discover whether it’s just a hoax, or if he is something special. When we finally get our chance to see what this job is all about, we are shocked at our destination. The job title is weirder than we could ever have expected; Witch Hunter. Why would a huge corporation need such an employee? After accepting the position (maybe just to find out what this is all about) you follow your orders and begin your day. You will meet many interesting people along the way, as well as some unusual ones. Not everything is as it seems, as you dig deeper and deeper into the truth of what is going on at Sintracorp.

Released on April 25, 2019, by the developer Baroque Decay and published by Another Indie, it is tagged as Indie, Adventure, Pixel Graphics, Horror, Gore (I have no additional tags to add, although it does have some RPG elements). It features fantastic pixel artwork, a well-done atmospheric soundtrack, as well as fabulous in-game audio. A brilliant storyline that will bewilder and shock you. A huge building to explore as you attempt to carry out your duties. A unique save-game technique. A fair priceline per hour of gameplay, with some replayability.

I have had a fantastic time with my playtime so far. The puzzle design for the title has been a pleasure to pick apart as I progress. I am kind of lost as to what to do at the moment; I’m traveling the building to figure out what I am missing. The game is not all linear; you can travel the building as you choose on the floors that are open. The horror elements of the title can be quite brutal and not for the meek or weak of soul. I did mess up and waste some of my save-games, which had me replaying some areas I would not normally have needed to when I died. I even considered starting over, but at around 12 hours in-game now, I think I will keep going until I am unable to make progress first. For now, I am a company man all the way and here to see if I am a Sintracorp winner. Happy hunting, Witch Hunter; you will be well compensated for your service.
