Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe

Review

Welcome to the Ultimate Edition of Woodle Tree 2.  When deluxe just isn't good enough, you throw in tons more content for a major +! In this remarkably ravishing upgraded release, that is fun for players of all skill levels, there is just too much new content to list here. Play as a single-player or with up to 4 players on a local coop/split-screen that is open-world with an epic amount of exploration and secrets to uncover at your pace. Battle familiar and new enemies as you overcome the terrain with fun yet challenging parkour as you bring freedom back to the lands.

The entirety of Woodle lands is in danger, all of the sacred water tears have been stolen and all the sage protectors turned to stone by a dark menacing force encroaching on all the lands. Once again a great protector must be chosen to save the world and return balance for another generation. You have been chosen for this honor should you choose to accept. A dark plague of ooze is spreading through all 8 territories of Woodle Land, draining the life essence from anything it contacts, whether that be plant, animal, or residents of the lands. The darkness brings deadly foes for its protection that you must overcome as you gather all the rain tears in every area so the world may once again be at peace.

Released on Dec 19, 2019, by the developer Fabio Ferrara and published by Chubby Pixel, it is tagged Adventure, Action, Indie, 4 Player Local, Funny. I have added no additional tags. It features a vibrant colorful world set in a wide variety of biomes. Reworked levels to perfect every level design. Family-friendly gameplay with tons of parkour to satisfy even the most addicted of the jump addicts. Every aspect of the game expanded from abilities, characters, enemies, unlockables, puzzles, and challenges and more... both the soundtrack & audio are well done. Full controller support is included.

Quite a cute platformer, you start in the tutorial area advancing to the main village as you learn the ropes of the game's mechanics. You will need to collect the first set of rain tears in order to unlock the rest of the world for a true open-world experience to begin. Along the way, you find warp markers that you can unlock to make it easier to return to that area later.  With satisfying and sometimes frustrating parkour at dizzying heights, one mistake can mean redoing it all.  Or just load a warp marker and go (I made good use of this lol). I loved all the exploration and secrets the title had to offer. I am one of those players that just has to explore every nook and cranny of a game, be it to seek out items that may be hidden or to see if I can break the game; it is a passion for me that is duly scratched with this gem. With berries and other collectibles to gather along your journey, you will unlock and purchase upgrades to advance to areas you once could not. I have barely scratched the surface of what the title has to offer. For the asking price vs the amount of playtime offered, you really cannot go wrong with this gem.
