While True: Learn ()

Review

You’ll never know where help may come from. In the case of this programmer, the solution came from his favourite feline home body. . .  you guessed it, it’s a cat! This story is pretty amazing, to say the least. The programmer in question was stuck on a specific coding segment. While he was getting some refreshments in the kitchen, his housemate, a cat, resolves the issue with the code. Now he is creating a brand new cat speech recognition device. What the hell is going on? You’ll have to find out in While True Learn ()!

True Learn () is an educational puzzle game developed by Luden.io and published by Nival. In this game, you’ll be playing a machine learning developer who creates and builds AI programs to help his customers.

In each puzzle, you’ll need to correctly distribute a certain number of elements (colours and shapes) from the input stream (rectangle) which is located on the left side of your screen, to one of several output streams (rectangle) on the right side of your screen. The way to do it, is to place nodes on your screen in a schematic format and connect them to filter the elements so they can be sent to the correct output stream. The ultimate goal is to score a gold medal in each of the levels, which in turn will reward you with extra cash. Not only do you have to make sure that all elements reach the correct output under a certain time (in seconds), but you must also have the accuracy level required by one or several outputs. The good news is, you’ll be able to test-run your plan to make sure it works and therefore receive the maximum amount of money after you release your new node. As shapes are introduced, you will need to train these nodes to improve their abilities to recognise shapes; it never takes too long to train these nodes due the fact that you can increase the speed of the game.

With the money you earn, you’ll be able to buy new equipment for your computer, items for your desk and even skins for your smart cat!

I really like the educational side that this game provides, as each of the nodes has an explanation about what they do in the game, and the comparison with what they do in reality. Very nice touch. I must say, I don’t think I have ever played a game like this before. It is challenging and very addictive so far in it’s current build (early access).

The graphics are nice, as is the soundtrack. It is a challenging game and you might experience some frustration every now and then.

Positives

+ Information/teaching on what the nodes do is great

+ Achievements and trading cards

Negatives
