UnderDread

Review

Absolutely buggered with your long journey (who can blame you travelling in the 18th century in a caravan), you and your daughter end up in a small inn. A good night’s sleep is probably a good remedy. As you wake up, your daughter is missing! In a panic, you go out for information and you will quickly find out that several children were missing from this village. Fortunately for you, a detective managed to rescue several children and he is on a lead to an old and enigmatic castle. You decide to try to catch up with him with the aim of saving your daughter!

UnderDread is an adventure / horror game set in a scary yet intriguing castle. Armed with a lantern, you will make your way through this very spooky castle to save your daughter. As you follow the footsteps of a detective, you will find scrolls lying around which will give you hints of what to do and what to look for within the level. Make sure you check all chests, desks and closets as they might hold ancient coins, scroll and letters. You will not get much action in this game but you will need a fair bit of stealth and puzzle-solving ability in order to move forward in the story.

The aspect of fear is very well portrayed in this game and you will encounter interesting and well-designed enemies through this ancient castle. Spooky sounds will float here and there and you will get the occasional weird visions too, which will make you sit on the edge of your comfy chair! Great atmosphere, in other words!

Graphically, this game looks great and the music fits the atmosphere really well. Mouse and keyboard in regards to the controls but they could have been smoother in my opinion.
