Treasure hunters, are you ready? Because it’s time to step into the shoes of two accomplished fortune seekers. Some people call them thieves, but the terminology is totally up to you. Regardless, the two adventures you are about to experience will grab you from the start to finish. So, what are you waiting for? Pack your explorer gears, and don’t forget your gun and rope, as you will need them through both adventures of UNCHARTED™: Legacy of Thieves Collection.

UNCHARTED™: Legacy of Thieves Collection combines two single-player action-adventure games developed by Naughty Dog LLC and published by PlayStation PC LLC on the 20^th of October 2022 on the Steam platform. This collection is also available on the Epic games store.

I have always been tempted to play the UNCHARTED™ game series, but as a true PC gamer, I never got around to playing them as I don’t own a PlayStation (yes, I know it is odd, but there you go). I was delighted when the news of UNCHARTED™: Legacy of Thieves Collection was coming out on PC, and I couldn’t wait to play both games in the collection. After all, I had waited six years to play UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End (released on PlayStation in 2016) and the stand-alone expansion UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy, which was released in 2017. So, will it be the end of the PlayStation exclusive, I wonder? In the last couple of years, several games were ported onto PC for our pleasure, and the ones I played were exquisite. So, what do I think about UNCHARTED™: Legacy of Thieves Collection?

In a nutshell, I was blown away and played both games from beginning to end within 25 hours. Naughty Dogs have managed to balance all aspects of these games. The stories are well-structured and compelling, with great dialogues, and the voice-overs are top-notch. You’ll laugh, be intrigued, and be on edge on several occasions provided by great cutscenes. Then you have amazing gameplay as you discover mind-blowing locations; the graphics are really good. There are plenty of collectables to find, which are pretty well hidden within the landscape, and they will only show as a small sparkling light as you walk or run by them. You’ll also climb a lot and use your rope a fair bit to access new spots within each chapter. Stealth is a big aspect of the games, as you’ll meet plenty of enemies in every chapter, and it will be totally up to you to sneak up behind and eliminate them without making too much noise. My favourite takedown is pulling them down while my character is hanging on the edge of a cliff, wall, or window. Or you can go in all guns blazing and have epic gun battles. There are plenty of guns and explosives to pick up along the way, which can be found on or in crates, and also when enemies have been killed as they will no longer need their weapons. You’ll experience wild escapes on foot and in vehicles too. The action in these games is brilliant, and when you will face the baddies at the end of the game it will be a spectacular fight. In addition, you have the puzzles aspect of the game.  There are several of them; they are not too difficult to complete, but just enough to make you think a bit.

There are some issues, though, mainly graphical. However, I did experience a crash to my desktop while playing The Lost Legacy. The most frequent one was when my character jumped towards an edge at certain angles; one arm looked totally dislocated (it actually was funny when it happened). Amongst some minor glitches, the worst issue was the pixelation of one of the character’s faces, which was just odd.

Despite these small issues, the graphics are fabulous. The story is well-structured, with great dialogues and voice-overs. I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing both games. You can play with your mouse and keyboard or with a gamepad. I waited six years to finish both of the games within 25 hours! Bugger, give me more treasure hunts!
