Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town

Review

Alfred and Melissa have just moved to Strawsbrough Town. Each year in May, the town holds a carnival, and for Alfred and Melissa, the month of May is extremely precious to them, as today as they are celebrating their first wedding anniversary.  As Melissa is about to cut the cake, an old lady knocks at their door to seek refuge on a cold and rainy night. After receiving food, the old lady gives Melissa a ring, and soon after she places the ring on her finger, Melissa falls into a deep sleep.  The only person who can save her is her husband, Alfred, in Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town.

Tales of Sorrow: Strawsbrough Town is a hidden objects games developed by Urchin Games and published by HH-Games on the 27 of January 2019 on Steam.

The game consists of 5 areas to visit. The first one has 7 locations, while the other four areas have four locations to explore. As you are playing Alfred, your goal will be to save your wife from a curse before the night ends.

The game has mostly hidden objects phases and several puzzles to figure out, but nothing very difficult at all, which is good for newcomers to this genre of game. As with most hidden objects titles, as you visit a location, you’ll find objects surrounded by sparkles, which notifies you that a hidden objects phase will start when you click on it. You will go back and forth between locations within each of the areas to collect all the necessary objects to successfully complete all the quests and move forward to the next area. You’ll also meet interesting characters along the way, most of whom will ask you to complete a quest; once complete, you’ll receive an important item to help you move forward in the story. There are a few locations where you must hover over all the screens to find an object to activate, but most of the time it’s pretty straightforward, as all the objects and characters are easily visible.

In terms of the story, it is fairly good but very short. Whether you choose to play on the normal or hard difficulty, it will take you around 2 hours to complete the game. The graphics are ok but nothing special. The game works fine from start to finish and also has achievements.
