Sticky Business

Review

Have you ever wanted to run your own sticker shop, where you can create and sell stickers to the public? Well, here’s your chance to take control of your own small sticker shop and make your dreams come true.

Starting a new game, you will be shown around your desk by a helper so you can learn the basics of the game. Your desk has a large tablet for creating your stickers, a printer, a smaller tablet for incoming orders, a place to put your completed orders ready for posting, and your computer for checking your online shop. There is a clock in the bottom left corner of the screen which shows you how much time remains until your shop closes for the day. In the bottom right of the screen is a post box icon (Post Office) to send out your completed orders. You will also find messages in the bottom right corner and a bed which will end the day upon clicking. Also at the bottom it shows you how many pennies you have along with the number of hearts you have.

To begin with you must design a set of stickers, and you do this by clicking Creator on the tablet. This will open the creative screen, where you will find images in seven categories (you will be able to add more as you progress through the game). You must drag an image into the creative area, where you can change the size of the image, the border around the image etcetera so that you can create the perfect stickers. Keep an eye on the clock as creating and printing your stickers will take time, as will packing and sending your parcels.

Once you’ve finished the creation process you can make them available online and allow people to visit your online shop and buy your lovely new creations. Next you must arrange your images onto sticker sheets so you can mail them to your customers. Printing a sheet of stickers will cost you a few pennies and will give you three sheets that you can then send out to complete orders.

Now you have to wait for some orders to come in!  If you haven’t already got some orders, then ending the day (by going to bed) will bring a new day and with it a big list of orders. Orders are displayed on your smaller tablet, clicking on that tablet will take you to the packing screen.  Along the top of the screen are the stickers you have created. There is a box for packing your sticker sheets in and on the right of the screen is your packing materials, Paper and Fillings.

To fulfill your orders, drag the corresponding sticker sheets into the open box. There is a small number on each sticker sheet which indicates how many a customer wants of that sticker set. Be sure to place the correct stickers and the correct quantity if you want your customers to be happy and spread the word. Then place some multi-coloured paper and different types of filling in the box to make it nice ‘n cheerful. You can also find a sweet (candy) icon above the packing materials which allows you to put some sweets in with your stickers as a nice surprise for your customers. Once you have packed a customer's stickers, hitting the pack button will close the box, and if there are more orders to fulfill, you will move on to the next one.

If you run out of stickers, you can go back to your desk and print some more.  Once again, keep an eye on the time because if you don’t get your orders out before the end of the day then your customers will receive them late.

Now that you have completed your orders you can go back to the desk and select the postbox icon, which will send your packages out for delivery. If you have any time to spare, you can either create some new stickers or upgrade your current images, packing and filling if you have the resources.

If you have run out of time for the day, go to bed and end the day. Then you’ll see a rundown of your day, where you will be told the number of sticker sheets printed and how many orders you sent out, along with any orders that are still open, failed or late.  After which you can start a new day.

You will receive experience points for each sticker image used and sold. Each sticker has five levels and when it reaches a new level it will give you some hearts. These hearts increase each time you level up. You can use the hearts to buy new images from the upgrade screen, allowing you to create a whole lot of new images which you can sell to your customers. You also earn some pennies at the end of the day, depending on the sales you made.

Your customers will send you messages of joy about how the stickers lifted their spirits or brightened their day. Completing the stories of these customers will allow you to unlock some of the achievements.

I found Sticky Business to be an enjoyable, relaxing casual game. Most of the stickers will have to be unlocked, but that’s not hard to do. The graphics are nice and bright, and the little stories are sweet.

I haven’t had any problems running the game. There are achievements, but sadly at this moment there are no cards. The game is a bit repetitive, but it isn’t the type of game that you would play ten hours straight. However, for a quick thirty minutes to an hour or so, it’s great.
