Sigi - A Fart for Melusina

Review

Once upon a time, a handsome knight named Sigi, who lived in a majestic castle, was in love with the beautiful mermaid Melusina.  He was fearless, a true master in weaponry and was always eager to show his extraordinary skills to his favourite mermaid. Despite having all these qualities, he was suffering from a very bad case of flatulence. One day, Sigi and Melusina were sitting on their preferred spot by the river when Sigi dropped one fart too many which destabilized Melusina, who was happily sitting on the banks of the river. After she fell into the water and didn’t re-emerge, our handsome knight realised that the love of his life had been captured. This is the story of Sigi – A Fart for Melusina!

Sigi – A Fart for Melusina is a 2d platformer / adventure game where you play Sigi and your goal is to save his love, the mermaid, Melusina.

This game has 20 levels on offer with 4 bosses to defeat. Each of the levels will take you between one and half and three minutes to clear, depending on your skills. The boss’s stage might take you slightly longer the first time around. After that, when you figure out how to eliminate them, that will be fairly quick, too.

Sigi will need avoid obstacles and face hordes of enemies such as zombies, skeletons, crows, snakes and others, which he can eliminate by throwing weapons at them. Beware though, it is impossible to kill ghosts. Some of the enemies will also throw or drop projectiles and if Sigi has been touched three times, he will lose a life and restart on the last saved spot which is indicated by a tomb stone. There are several of them in each of level and his progress will be automatically saved when he passes them. Talking about life, you can easily add more by collecting coins (one hundred coins per life), finding shields and the four letters, S.I.G.I. Don’t miss the letter X on some of the walls; shoot at them and it will open secret caves where more coins or letters can be found. Weapons will be displayed as icons within the levels; just jump or hover on them to pick them up. My favourite one is the chicken drumsticks.

In terms of the difficulty, it progresses all the way through, with a boss to fight every 5 stages, and they are pretty fun to fight!

Great pixel graphics, and the controls are very responsive whether you are using the gamepad or keyboard. There are no difficulty options such as normal, hard or hardcore, which in my view would have enhanced the game and the replay-ability factor.

Positives
