Radiant One

Review

Dreams turn to nightmares in this short but wonderful point-n-click story-driven adventure game brought to you by Fntastic.

You play as Daniel, and when the game starts you’re sitting on your sofa, the moonlight peering through the partially closed curtains. You’ve been trying for several days to have a lucid dream after reading a book as an escape from your boring life, but you’ve had no luck so far.  Tonight, however, you have a feeling that it’s going to happen. You lay down on your sofa and try to sleep, imagining that you’re playing the piano, so you’ll fall to sleep faster.

You finally fall asleep and start dreaming; everywhere is barren . . . no land or sky except for what looks like clouds around you. You notice something in front of you so you head over to see what it is.  As you reach out to touch it, a blinding light flash appears before you!  Next moment, you’re standing on a golden sandy beach with the waves lapping at your feet.  It feels weird and you are unsure if you’re dreaming or if it’s real, so you decide to test it by trying to breathe while covering up your nose and mouth.  After also checking your hands, you finally realise that your dream has come true - you’ve learnt to control your dreams.

Now a day never passes where you don’t enter a lucid dream; you can imagine anything, do anything and it will happen. Over time, though, it becomes harder to tell dream from reality; the boundaries between them blur, until one day you pass a point of no return. This is where your adventure begins …

You move around from one place to another by clicking where you’d like to go, and you can interact with some of your surroundings - these are highlights for you. You’ll also have to interact with events within your dreams; to do this, you have to swipe left, right, or mash that mouse button in order to pass an event.

In the settings you’ll find a choice of five languages, a music and volume slider, a window or full screen option, as well as resolution and graphics quality (low to high). On the main menu screen, you have new game, settings, exit and continue once you’ve started a game. The game automatically saves for you as you go from one screen to another.
