Murder by Moonlight 2 - Crimson Night

Review

The city is on edge since several women were murdered at night while walking down the streets. And tonight, another woman has been found lying down in a pool of her blood in a dark alley. The young lady has been beaten and left to die like all the other victims. Detective Elliot Moore is in charge of investigating the so-called Vampire serial killer and has been called to the crime scene to verify if this latest crime is from the same murderer. This is where the story starts in Murder by Moonlight 2 – Crimson Night.

Murder by Moonlight 2 - Crimson Night is a Match 3 with hidden objects element game developed by e-FunSoft Games and published by HH-Games on the 9th of December 2021 on the Steam Platform.

The game consists of over 100 levels divided into five chapters, each having four acts to complete. To unlock each act, you must gather a certain number of golden stars, which you’ll acquire by completing a level. When you reach or surpass the number of golden stars required, you can activate the next act, which is usually a written narrative. But every two acts, you’ll also need to complete a mini hidden object game that blends perfectly with the game. There’s a voice-over with the narrative at the start of each chapter and also at the end of the game, and I applaud the developer for that, but it is terrible. I don’t know what they were thinking by using a woman with such a croaky voice, and it didn’t offer any extra atmosphere whatsoever. Indeed, I thought she had a nasty case of tonsilitis! On the positive side, the story is quite good, well structured and has a few little twists along the way to keep you guessing. The other good point is that the soundtrack is rather good, with a few piano tunes and another tune with string instruments that is a bit melancholic.

In terms of the levels, the variety is pretty good too. The match 3 items are more or less vampire-related, as you would expect, apart from a couple of items. You can choose to play with a time limit or just take as long as you need with the casual mode. In any case, you shouldn’t have any issue finishing a level before the time runs out. And, if you are out of moves, the grid will reshuffle itself to give you a fresh approach.

You’ll also have tools that you can purchase to help you clear the level faster. However, you’ll need to accumulate a certain number of rings and clear tiles to buy these tools. I have played a few of e-FunSoft Games, and this one is probably one of the best I have played so far. If you enjoy playing Match 3 and Hidden objects games, chances are pretty high that you’ll like this game (and there is a little surprise element at the end that you might also enjoy). It might take you up to 10 hours to complete the entire game.
