Mars Power Industries Deluxe

Review

Mars Power Industries Deluxe is a resource management puzzle game, where you have to connect buildings by positioning other buildings in the correct placements. Each Year (Level) there will be various buildings for you to place in order to connect them and then move on to the next level. In the early levels you’ll need to connect power to the colony buildings, and later there will be refineries which you’ll be required to connect to the raw materials.

Each level you will have up to five placement buildings to position and connect to the existing buildings. The placement buildings will need to be placed in the order that they are available to you in order to complete the level. Each of these placement buildings has directional indicators: either side, three-way in front, and two straight in front. So, placing a three-way will activate one place in front and then one either side of that.

You can’t just place them anywhere, to power the colony you can position the placement buildings on the sections with blue crystals. This will then produce more blue crystal squares, depending on the type of placement. This will allow you to make your way towards your colony buildings, bringing the power. You also do this with the refineries, although you will need to link them to the pink puddles on the ground.

Some placement buildings later in the game will allow you to move a line of the level left to right or right to left, and up and down or down and up, depending when whether you place them on the blue crystals or pink puddles. There are some obstacles on the levels which will not allow you to place your buildings if they fall in its range. There are others that will move when you place a building down; these can block your way to your colony or refineries.

There are some extras to collect on various levels, such as strawberries, which you can collect by positioning a placement on it. There are also mysterious objects with weird writing on the sides; putting a placement on this will give you a bonus level to play.

The game consists of ninety-seven levels; some are easy while others will get you scratching your head trying to figure out how to complete it.  They aren’t overly complicated, however; you just need to persist and you’ll figure it out. Each of the levels can be completed in five moves or less.

There’s not a lot in the way of options: Languages are English, Italian, Spanish, German, Polish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Korean, and a couple others I’m not totally sure of. You can turn Music and Sounds On/Off and you can also Reset Progress should you wish too.

So far, I’ve reach Year Sixty-Three and I have enjoyed playing the game. The graphics are nice, the music and sounds are good. The game isn’t overly complicated, but it can be challenging, which is not a bad thing. Definitely worth giving a bash. Thumbs Up!!
