Legacy - Witch Island

Review

You were rescued at sea as a baby floating in your crib. Strangely enough, a beautiful hand mirror was tucked under you. However, six stones, probably precious stones, were removed from the frame. This is the story you were told by your grandmother over and over again. The mirror feels more than familiar to you as every time you hold it up and look at your reflection, you have the sensation that the woman in the mirror is asking for help.  Furthermore, you are continuing to have this dream of being a princess on a fantasy Island that has been ravished and controlled by an evil witch. To make it even more bizarre, your friend, Peter, has just invited you on a balloon flight and insisted that you bring your hand mirror with you. Totally weird request! The flight is rather rough, and you are thrown off the balloon nacelle into the sea and drift onto the shore of an Island. What comes next. . . you’ll find out playing Legacy – Witch Island.

Legacy – Witch Island is a hidden objects adventure game developed by Itera Laboratories and published by HH-Games on the 22nd of September 2020 on the Steam platform.

The game consists of five chapters with a respectable number of Hidden Objects sessions. It also includes 48 minigames and the firefly collectable which appears in all the locations you will visit. In a nutshell, you need to rescue key people who have been stoned by the witch. Even if the story is not the greatest, I do like the fact that you have good cutscenes each time you free/rescue one of the key characters.

I like the diversity of the mini games but overall, they are pretty easy to complete. That includes the hidden object levels, which are well-designed but most of the items are obvious to spot. Saying that, you will revisit a few of the levels and thankfully, you have enough objects within each level to make it entertaining the second time you visit the level.

I did encounter a few issues while playing this game. My main desktop features a 3080 ti video card and I am running a widescreen 144Mhz 4K monitor on Windows 10. The game will not run on the full screen on the highest resolution but works fine in the windowed mode. I also run a laptop with a 3070 video card and haven’t had any issues using the full screen mode at the 1920X1080 resolution with Windows 11.

The story in itself is nothing extravagant but good enough to make you want to play further. The graphics are good, and the soundtrack is rather enjoyable. It will take you around 3 to 4 hours to complete the game.  It’s a nice addition to your game library.
