Kill it With Fire

Review

Kill it with fire is a fun FPS. The game’s world revolves around the premise that there are spiders everywhere and you must hunt them down.

It’s a fun, light-hearted game with some unique concepts. Right from the get-go, you will be thrown into a locked section of a house, landmark, or outdoor venue, and your goal will be to exterminate the critters hiding around and while doing so you will have to perform some tasks, riddles, collect items, etc.

Plot: Spiders . . . mankind’s ancient nemesis, deadly and sneaky; as a licensed exterminator, you have been given free rein to go around and exterminate these sneaky critters by any means necessary.

Assemble your armory and go to war. Burn down everything that dares to cross your path; a bit of expensive property damages won’t hurt.

Gameplay:  Kill It With Fire’s whole gameplay is based around simple traditional FPS machines with quite a few fun tricks up its sleeve.

In the beginning, you will be wielding a Clipboard; the most used and important item in-game. As you progress on each stage, more and more tasks will appear on the board for you to complete. As you complete each task, more rooms and areas will be unlocked for you to venture into.

Each task and each room/area will bring in new possibilities, weapons, ammo, puzzles, etc. Apart from a few general tasks like collecting items, the rest of the tasks are unique and fun.

For example, one of the tasks was to deal with a spider species they call jumping spiders. These little critters are tricky to deal with when you see them, they jump a good distance and then tracking them down in a messed up room was a hoot and a half.

In the beginning, you will come across a spider tracker, which works as a radar; at first, it seems kinda pointless because if you’re in a small room, you can clearly hear the spider making noise.

However, as you progress through the different areas and upgrade your radar, things become more interesting as the radar does a lot of the work for you. Being without the radar in the later stages of the game would have been a nightmare.

Progressing through each stage requires a few tasks to be completed, such as exterminating a number of spiders, exterminating a selected species of spider, items collection, riddles, puzzles, damaging selected items, etc.

As you progress, you will start to earn points and unlock upgrades, and the trackers upgrade. Each upgrade brings in different state boosts for both you and your handy tracker, such as gel for back pain relief and a Sigma module for providing your tracker with a better display.

As you browse through the menu, you will be shown how many tasks to complete before unlocking the next stage.

A fine addition to the menu UI that I would like to mention is Equipment, which displays your unlocked gears and weapons.

Weapons: From a simple Clipboard to C4 explosives, Kill It With fire is providing players with many options to go through.

As you progress throughout the game you will come across a lot of unique weapons either out in the open or hidden around and behind objects, closets, doors, etc. which makes the game more interesting and exploration fun.

This system of exploration kept my interest peaked for hours until I messed up the rooms.

The wide selection of weapons and explosives in this game are unique and hilarious, as you won’t use most of these while trying to hunt down a tiny critter. For an example of how ridiculous things get in-game, you will get to use an Assault rifle, C4 explosives, Molotov’s and Shotguns, setting the whole place on fire with a jerry can full of gas, etc.

It’s ridiculous, it’s funny, and combined with how one thing interacts with the others makes things more insane.

Arsenal management and selecting seemed easy enough with Q to access the inventory, and clicking 2-5 while an item is selected to equip it. And as you progress, you will unlock more slots to assign weapons to.

World design: Colorful, light-hearted, well-polished world design. The playable areas are each unique and well designed, and each comes with its own flair and fun elements. Some stages are set in a small room and others in and around a large gas station. Other than a few minor graphical hiccups, the world looks good and the game runs well.

Considering all aspects of the game, Kill It With Fire turned out to be as it was promised, a fun casual FPS, set in a colorful world, and the game offers an enjoyable gameplay full of critters to crush, burn, shoot, fry, stab, RPG, etc.

Other than a few graphical hiccups at the very beginning where items seemed burned even though I didn’t have any weapons on me, and the fact that the game is short and needs more content updates, I have nothing to complain about; and the game provides as promised.
