Hidden Objects with Edgar Allan Poe - Mystery Detective

Review

Your name is Elaine Le Grass. One of your personal friends, Roderick Usher, sent you a strange letter where he requested you to come to his property as soon as possible. Intrigued, you jumped into your car and made your way to his estate. What is this all about, and what would you find? This thought resonates in your mind every kilometre you travel!

Hidden Objects with Edgar Allan Poe - Mystery Detective is a casual game developed and self-published by Crisp App Studio on the 6th August 2022 on the Steam Platform.

I have been covering Crisp App Studio games for quite some time as I do enjoy playing Hidden Objects games. Their latest game, Hidden Objects with Edgar Allan Poe - Mystery Detective, disappointed me. There are only 15 levels, and only one is a 360 panoramic level. Yes, there are enough hidden objects within each level for you to revisit it at least four times. Unfortunately, they are easy to spot, and you can easily complete all four requirements in two goes!

I enjoyed each level in terms of the artwork, as it is nicely done. However, this is one of the least exciting games from this developer. The story itself is rather dull, and there is a bug where the same written narrative comes up a few times between levels. The game can be completed within an hour even if you are taking your time, which in my case I always do. I think one of the biggest issues I have with this game is that the hidden objects are easily found, which surprised me! Their last game, Hidden Objects - Sleeping Beauty - Puzzle Fairy Tales was far better in my opinion, for the same price. It might be a bit harsh, but I do feel this game is a bit of a letdown. Is it still enjoyable? Yes, it is, but there is no replayability whatsoever. If you manage to spot all the objects within 45 seconds and achieve a high score (which is easily done), you only have to do the same level again to score three golden stars. Combined, this game is average compared to what this developer has produced over the years. Please check out their library as you might find some great games, but I am afraid this one is not to their standard.
