Hidden Object Adventure: Around The World in 80 Days

Review

I am pretty sure that most people have heard of, or read books created by the extraordinary mind of Mister Jules Verne. Many of his works have been adapted into movies and his characters played by well-known actors.  Now, it’s time to revisit one of his most famous works involving a rich Englishman who accepted a bet of 20,000 pounds (around 1.6 million pounds now) if he could travel around the globe in 80 days.  Followed by his new French valet, Passepartout (what a great name, “Goes Everywhere”), they’ll now have to discover hidden objects around the world in 80 days!

Around the World in 80 days is a hidden objects / adventure game where you follow Phileas Fogg and his valet Passepartout searching for hidden objects within 80 beautiful puzzle scenes.

This is the third game I played from Crisp App Studios and I must admit that I am impressed with the latest. One of the aspects I really enjoyed in this game, apart of being based on a classical novel, is the fact that the locations or scenes are well represented in each country you’ll be visiting. For example, in Africa, the scene will have native structures, animals and objects. It will also have a soundtrack that fits the scene, which is fun and enhances the atmosphere of each of the locations.

The other point I noticed in this game is that some of the objects are well-blended within the scenes which will give you a longer playtime, or you might need to use the hint button more often than expected. You can zoom in and out of the scene to try to locate an object or have a broader view of the picture. In addition to hidden objects traditional gameplay, in a few instances you have to spot ten differences between two extremely similar pictures. For example, the picture on the right might have an object which the other side does not. If you manage to find all the objects in quick succession you’ll accumulate a large number of points, but if you click all around the picture hoping to find an object, points will be deducted for your score. Find all objects swiftly and you’ll even get three golden stars for your sharpness.

Graphically the game looks good and the soundtrack is great too. It’s easy to play in regards to the controls, and of course the story is fun!

Positives

+ 80 Puzzles with cultural audio
