Hidden Cats in London

Review

With all my travels in Europe, I saw many weird and extraordinary things in the places I stopped by. One of which was Rome. A city with so much history and ruins from the Roman Empire that you can visit. One of the ruin sites is Largo di Torre Argentina, where over 120,000 cats live in a colony. I also visited London (actually, I lived there for a year), and as far as I remember, I never saw as many cats as I saw in Rome. Have you? I saw plenty of Aliens walking down the street, in the tubes and drinking tea with their little fingers extended as far up as they could to reach their ears for a bit of a scratch, but cats, no way. Apparently, they were all in hiding!

Hidden Cats in London is a cute casual hidden object (cats) game developed and self-published by Nukearts Studio on the Steam platform on the 16th of December 2022.

What a lovely little game Hidden Cats in London is. You have 2 modes of play; the Normal and the Advanced modes. In the Normal mode, you must find 100 cats, and you can use the hint button three times during your search. In this mode, all cats will remain in the same spots, therefore offering no replayability. In the Advanced mode, you have to find 150 cats, and when you find some special ones, you’ll unlock an additional level. There are six levels to unlock in total. You also have to find characters, 16 in total, and each time you find one, your hint button count will increase. Also, this mode offers more replayability because with each new game, cats are placed randomly within the picture.

I like the monochromatic illustration of London, which shows a few iconic places, such as Buckingham Palace, the Gherkin building, Waterloo Train Station and London Bridge. When you start the level, the layout is monochrome, and when you’ve found all the cats on the buildings, cars and landmarks, the illustration becomes colourful. The illustration reminds me of the Tintin comic book illustrations, which is very close to my heart.

This is a type of game that people of any age can play, and if you are a cat lover, well, heaven is opening for you.

The additional levels will introduce a bit of interaction, such as opening cupboards, which I think is good. Personally, I would have loved to have this type of interaction on the main level; it would have been fun.

The graphics are good, as is the soundtrack. It is a fun little game for all ages, and I would certainly recommend playing it with young children as I think they will enjoy the experience.
