EONIA

Review

Welcome to a world of mystery and intrigue as you learn, search and document the creatures and fauna of Enoia, a very colourful open world Adventure RPG game from Geometric Bytes.

You start the game by waking up to an alarm going off … It’s your birthday, and now that you’re 15 you’ve finally become an adult. Which means you can now become Master Endio’s apprentice. You set off after collecting some items from your house and head over to Master Endio’s home, but upon arriving you discover that he’s not there; there is only a letter with some instructions for you to follow. This will lead you around Eonia, giving you the skills you need to get tasks done. You learn everything from books, such as how to fish, how to draw and document the creatures of Eonia.  Make sure that you read everything, otherwise you’ll be unable to complete the necessary tasks.

One of the tasks Master Endio gives you is to draw and document certain creatures. To draw them you’ll have to use a spyglass, keeping the creatures within view for a few seconds, which isn’t always as straight forward as it seems. Once drawn they’ll appear in your sketch book; you can then go and compare your drawings with the Bestairium Tome 1 back at Master Endio’s house. Inside the Bestiarium book it’ll give you some information and tell you about the characteristics of the creatures.

Collecting a record of the wild life of Eonia is just one of the things you’re able to do. You’ll also learn about alchemy, plants, maps, and how to craft potions; information that you’ll acquire from various masters.  Eonia is split into 9 different areas which you’ll unlock as you progress through the game. If you lose some health, you can replenish this at rest points around the world, where you can also save your game progress.

There are the usual options, like Sounds, Music, Invert Mouse, Enable Vsync, Mouse Sensitivity - these can be found in the in-game options. There are no graphic settings, and no option for full or windowed mode. The game graphics are nice and brightly coloured, adding a lovely warmth to the game. On the title page you will find information about the game version and some tips and information about the game and updates, along with how to get in touch with the developer should you find any bugs, problems or have any suggestions about the game. The developer is on the ball and fixes any bugs/problems very quickly once reported, which is great when you consider he’s the only one developing the game!
