Die With Glory

Review

Welcome to Die With Glory, Join our protagonist Sigurd: A veteran Viking warrior who has never been defeated in battle on his journey to find glorious death and enter the majestic halls of Valhalla. Along with his spiritual companion, Ragnar the flying skull, they travel Midgard in search of an opponent worthy enough to kill him in battle so he may end his days gloriously and rest eternally in Valhalla.

Die With Glory

Released in May 2017 by Developer Castle. Die With Glory is a humorous point and click adventure game. You will travel across the lands of Midgard on a quest for a memorable death that has eluded him for all his years on the battlefield. You will be aided by many characters and fight many foe on your journey. There’s a lovely graphic art style and mellow soundtrack to enjoy as you traverse through battle after battle.

Your Story begins on the shores of Midgard, where you will meet your faithful companion Ragnar the flying skull, who throughout the game can help you with hints and humor. Along with Hilda, your love, who will bring you back to life when you fail to find a death that meets your expectations of glory. As you progress, you find yourself in the Hack & Slash Tavern, where you will drink and tell the stories of your battles. You interact with the many patrons as you build your story of death and glory.

Die With Glory is a beautiful game graphically; it has very detailed art and devious puzzles to solve. I have had a lot of fun meeting all the interesting people on my journey for glorious death. I regularly buy drinks for the patrons of the bar as I tell the tales of my many battles. The puzzles are well made and require that you use a bit of that grey matter to progress. As a point and click adventure, Die With Glory is solid title in the genre, you can tell a lot of love went into the creation of the game; the beautiful art in the game is very detailed and can be a little distracting at times as you soak in all the scenery they have made in the game.

Will I find glorious death and reach Valhalla? Only time will tell. After 5 hours of gameplay I still have not attained my glory. It has been a fun play so far; some of the puzzles can be tricky, some are fairly easy. If you get stuck, talk to Ragnar and get hints to help you progress; he helped me a few times when I was getting frustrated at puzzles I was having trouble doing without a hint. Many complain about it being over-priced port, I find this to be not factual; the asking price of $4.99 USD is quite fair for the game you receive. As a port, the controls are solid and I noticed no out of the ordinary quirks that many ports have. All in all, I say it was ported very well. So, for you point and click lovers out there, I think you will enjoy the title.

My only complaint with the game was the lack of video settings. I play on a widescreen monitor

and the lack of settings made the game run in a box-like mode, and some of the dialogue would be off-screen and unreadable, which was a bit annoying at times as some info is important for your progression. The addition of more settings and options for the graphics are really needed for the game. If it wasn’t for this one thing I would have scored it one point higher.
