Bouncy Bob

Review

Have you seen a group of four individuals lead by a strange character called Bob! Well, you can’t miss them, they’re bouncing around like crazy! I’m in stitches every time they jump; believe it or not, they move their little arms as fast as they can hoping to fly - it’s hilarious! Anyway, I need to have a chat with their leader, Bouncy Bob, to see if I can join them.

Bouncy Bob is a fast paced action / platformer / co-op game where you play one of four bouncing characters and your goal is to successfully eliminate zombies by bouncing on their heads in the single player mode and have the most kills in a co-op game within a specific time.

The single player mode consists of sixteen levels. You’ll be able to unlock the next level only if you manage to kill the required number of zombies on the stage you’re currently playing. If you’re not quite sure how to play the game at first, feel free to play the tutorial which is very quick and simple and will show you how to play this fun game with one button. One thing you need to be aware of is that you are going to die in every single game play!  I’m never happy to die, especially just after I reach the requirement needed to get to the next level and push through for the kill!  For the record, the game it is not easy at all.  I did, however, manage to exceed the required tally once or twice! Anyway, let’s move on to something else, shall we.

The presentation of the levels is very cute and fun. First, they are all displayed in one gradient colour, with platforms and the ground being the darkest ones. Zombies, vampires, rabbits and other enemies will start appearing from the ground along with flying bats within the levels. What you have to do is to jump on their heads to kill them. How do you do that? Well, Bob and his friends are rocking from left to right or vice versa. As you press the nominated key on your keyboard or gamepad, your character will take a big breath and an arrow will appear above its head. All you have to do is to release the pressure on your button to see Bob or his mate bouncing in the direction you have chosen. If you hold the button for a certain period of time, they will bounce further than if you hold it for a shorter time. Then, in the middle of the jump, you can press the button repeatedly and your character will attempt to fly; it will be a short flight, though. Make sure to keep an eye on your stamina gauge when you do that. There are power ups available on each level. Some will only eliminate enemies, while others will get rid of your character, too. I’ll let you figure them out. Also, be very careful with spikes on the wall as it will take only a few pricks to kill your character. Poor BOB and his friends!

The graphics are cute and the soundtrack is fun. In terms of the controls they are responsive, as you have only one button to press. The game has plenty of re-playability and will be a cracker to play with friends!
