Don't Tax Me Bro!

Review

It’s tax time people, and just like you, I am ecstatic about it!  What a joy to give part of my well-earned money to the tax department. We have known about it since it was first introduced in the . . . what year was it? . . . not so long ago, around 3000 – 2800 BC in ancient Egypt. Anyway, from that time onwards, there have been people who don’t want to share their income with the tax department, and today, I DON’T WANT TO SHARE . . . Don’t Tax me Bro!

Don’t Tax me Bro is an endless platformer (until you get caught) where you take control of a dude who has no intention of paying his tax.

The point will be well established after two policemen slam your apartment door and run into the middle of your lounge room, shouting. . . HALT! What would be your reaction? I’ll tell you straight, you’ll run out the window with the love of your life, (which is your briefcase full of $$$)!

From here it’s all about running faster than the cops, picking up additional coins and avoiding obstacles. Talking about obstacles, running onto people will slow you down, as will outdoor cafe/restaurant settings. And that’s just the start of it! What about those cats who are sitting on the window sill and wiggling their tails around on those light flower pots. Yes, that’s right - pots are going to drop down left, right and centre! Still thinking about avoiding tax? Hang on, what about pavement works! Holes on the footpath and furious dogs too - avoid them! But what really gets me is the birds; no matter what, they’ll get you back! Jump too high and crows will hit your face and knock you out.

In this ordeal, you will have a couple of power-ups at your disposal. Well, that is if you can reach them. Pick up a coffee cup and you’ll run as fast as a jaguar; pick up a vacuum cleaner and suck up as many coins as you can; or the best one - pick up the phone and get your body guard to help you out for a short period of time.

Do you have any second thoughts about tax evasion? Well, in Don’t Tax Me Bro, you’re going to be caught anyway; the question is how much money can you collect and how far can you go beforehand. The mechanisms of the game are simple, but it’s not as easy as you might think.

Nice pixel graphics and the soundtrack is pretty good, too. In terms of the controls, they are pretty responsive but I personally prefer using the gamepad. You can play on a local multiplayer, too, which is great fun. I personally would have liked to have more levels (there are only two at this stage).

Positives

+ Nice Pixel artwork
+ Fun, fast and easy to play
+ Achievements & trading cards

Negatives

- Needs more levels
- Repetitive

Review Summary

An Endless platformer game (until you get caught); fun and fast! After all, Don’t Tax Me Bro!
